Islamabad, March 20: The government has officially approved the “New Gwadar Shipyard Mega Project”, following the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
This initiative aims to utilize all available resources to establish a robust foundation for the all-inclusive development of Gwadar Port under CPEC Phase II.
An allocation of Rs 200 million has been made for the formation of the Project Management Cell (PMC).
To ensure the smooth execution of the project, relevant appointments will be made in accordance with prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Gwadar Shipyard Mega Project: Key Objectives and Development Plans
The primary goal of the New Gwadar Shipyard is to stimulate the commercial shipbuilding and repair industry, create job opportunities, and promote economic growth in the region.
A Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) official emphasized that the development of a modern shipyard in Gwadar would also provide essential services, such as dry docking facilities for cargo ships visiting the port.
Additionally, the shipyard would engage in building new ships, adding another dimension to the industrial capabilities of the area.

The GPA has identified 750 acres of land for the project. This land will be dedicated to establishing the shipyard and providing space for the associated infrastructure.
