Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: The Sindh government has introduced major reforms in the medical education sector, officially approving the Sindh MDCAT Admission Policy 2024 for MBBS and BDS programs in both public and private medical and dental colleges.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting at the CM House, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and attended by provincial ministers, advisors, and senior officials.
Under the new policy, the responsibility for conducting the MDCAT examination will remain with the Sukkur IBA Testing Agency (SIBA) due to its proven track record in 2024. However, future selections will be based strictly on performance. The reforms also cover the reassessment of 3,371 protected heritage buildings across the province.
Key Features of the Sindh MDCAT Admission Policy 2024
- Compliance with PMDC Act 2022: The policy ensures complete adherence to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council regulations and recent Sindh High Court directives.
- Merit & Eligibility: Admission will be granted strictly on merit, with fixed pass percentages and eligibility criteria.
- Sindh Domicile Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid Sindh domicile, verified through Juvenile Cards and biometric authentication.
- Seat Allocation Transparency: All seat distributions will be clearly listed in the annual prospectus for the 2024-25 session and cannot be altered by admitting universities.
The Health Department reserves the right to manage the admission process directly or assign it to a designated medical university. In such cases, a supervisory committee will be appointed to ensure fairness and transparency.
