Pakistan Railways is set to launch a new train service connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The announcement was made during a special meeting at Railways Headquarters in Lahore, chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi.

In addition to the new service, the meeting discussed strengthening the security of railway tracks and trains across the country, with particular attention given to Balochistan.

The need for a crackdown on encroachments on railway land was also emphasized, and it was agreed that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure the safety and security of railway operations.

Earlier, Pakistan Railways had also announced plans for the country’s first-ever bullet train between Lahore and Karachi, a groundbreaking project that will redefine travel along the 1,215-km Main Line 1 (ML-1) by 2030.

This project is backed by a $6.8 billion investment under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Moreover, the bullet train promises fast, safe and affordable travel.
