Islamabad, 5 May, 2025: Summer Visitor Visas for New Zealand’s 2025 season are now open for application, as Immigration New Zealand invites global tourists to explore the country during its sunniest and busiest period of the year.

The summer season, which stretches from December to February, is widely regarded as the best time to visit the island nation.

From the adventure capital of Queenstown to the peaceful coastal areas in the Bay of Islands, the country offers a diverse mix of nature, culture, and warm hospitality.

Visitors can also enjoy open-air Christmas celebrations, local summer festivals, and vibrant Māori traditions.

Details of the Visa Scheme

The standard New Zealand visitor visa permits stays ranging from six to nine months, depending on the traveler’s plans. It covers activities like sightseeing, attending short courses, and visiting friends or relatives.

The starting fee for the application is NZD 341, which includes both the visa charge and a visitor levy. While the average processing time is under 15 working days, applications submitted closer to the holiday period may take longer due to high demand.

Officials have urged prospective travelers to submit their paperwork early, especially if they wish to enter the country by the end of December. The final recommended submission date for smooth processing is October 25, 2025.

Visa Categories and Application Process

Citizens of countries under New Zealand’s visa-waiver list do not need a full visa, but must instead obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before departure. Travelers from non-waiver nations must apply for a complete visitor visa.

To be eligible, applicants must prepare the following:

  • A valid passport
  • A passport-sized photograph
  • A detailed travel plan or invitation letter
  • Proof of financial support for the stay
  • Evidence of a return or onward flight booking

Applications are to be submitted through Immigration New Zealand’s official online portal, which requires setting up an account, filling in the form, uploading necessary files, and paying the visa fee digitally.
