ISLAMABAD, JULY13: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been instructed by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan to reevaluate the Sialkot-Rawalpindi Motorway project, with a proposal to enhance to six lanes instead of four, as reported on July 12.
The specifics indicate that this choice is intended to accommodate projected traffic demands over the ensuing fifty years. In light of Pakistan’s expanding population, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the significance of future-proofing infrastructure. To guarantee openness and efficient oversight, he gave the NHA the order to install live cameras on every building site.
The Minister also emphasized the financial advantages and recommended that roads that can boost the expansion of the national economy be given priority. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of third-party reviews to maximize road maintenance investments and ordered the PKR 150 billion N25 highway in Baluchistan to be built in phases.
In addition, Minister Khan instructed the NHA to engage with the Gilgit-Baltistan government to address issues related to communication infrastructure, highlighting the strategic significance of effective national transportation networks.
