Pakistan’s cricket board has announced that Nida Dar will captain the team in the upcoming women’s T20 Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from July 19-28. Following a rigorous four-day camp, the squad has been finalized with notable exclusions from the England tour squad, including Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.
Instead, selectors have opted for Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, Syeda Aroob Shah, and Tasmia Rubab. Tasmia, a promising 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler, marks her debut in the national squad after impressive performances in domestic and A-team matches.
Preparations for the tournament will commence with a training camp starting July 5, led by head coach Muhammad Wasim and supported by Abdur Rehman, Junaid Khan, and Hanif Malik.
The team departs for Sri Lanka on July 16 and will compete in Group ‘A’ against India, Nepal, and UAE, aiming for a spot in the semi-finals slated for July 26. Pakistan kicks off their campaign against India on July 19, with subsequent matches against Nepal and UAE on July 21 and 23 respectively.
