Night Always Comes is a story of one of the longest nights of the life of Lynette (Vanessa Kirby). Faced with losing her home in less than 24 hours unless she can find $25,000, Della faces the consequences of distrust and deception at the hands of her mother and struggles through the extremities of decisions made in order to keep her head above water. Every action gets her closer to trouble and displays how easy the breakdown of a worker can happen under the pressure.

The first time it happens is when she seeks the help of her usual escort customer Scott (Randall Park), who denies her and rather humiliates her. When his money is refused insensately, Lynette steals his car, which triggers a lot of thoughtless decisions. Then, she goes to Gloria (Julia Fox) a close friend who does not do much, only part of the money she owes.

The relationship between the two is further complicated by the entry of Cody into the scene. The two of them discover drugs and money in the vault of a politician, but the distrust between the two erupts. Cody is an ex-con who is not willing to take chances and in one startling scene Lynette decides to run over him just to survive.

At the close, Night Always Comes leaves Lynette bruised, ethically dubious, and even unsatisfied. The movie highlights the emotions of a single night of poor decision-making as an illustration to the poor conditions of those who live on a paycheck basis. It is the story of endurance, and smoking ruin, according to Kirby, about how quickly beyond hope dreams can come crashing down when Night Always Comes.
