Islamabad, May 27, 2025: Amazon Prime Video has officially announced that The Wheel of Time will not return for a fourth season, leaving viewers shocked and the epic fantasy saga unfinished.
The decision follows extensive talks between Prime Video and co-producers Sony Pictures TV, reportedly due to the show’s steep production expenses and less-than-expected financial gains.
Adapted from Robert Jordan’s celebrated novel series, The Wheel of Time unfolds a vast fantasy realm brought to life by a cast led by Rosamund Pike. Though the show struggled during its initial seasons, with debates over deviations from the books, Season 3 was widely praised for finally capturing the essence of Jordan’s story.
Despite this critical upswing and a growing fan following, Prime Video decided that the cost outweighed the benefits of continuing the series.

This news has sparked strong disappointment among fans eager to see the journey continue, especially since Season 3 concluded with many plot threads still open. On social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), viewers voiced their frustration over the abrupt ending of a story they had followed closely for years.

The cancellation aligns with Amazon MGM Studios’ wider approach as it juggles other costly productions such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Though the show has ended on screen, the Wheel of Time universe isn’t fading away, an ambitious ‘AAA Open-World RPG’ game set in the same world is currently underway. For the devoted audience, however, this sudden halt means a longer wait for closure on a narrative that has now been left hanging.
