Islamabad, Sep 14: The Nust School of Health Sciences (NSHS) held an art competition on climate change and its effects on communities and health in partnership with Jhpiego, Pakistan.
The competition, with the theme “HER Climate,” which stands for Healthy Communities & Environment Resilient, aimed to inspire kids to investigate climate challenges creatively via their artwork.
According to a news statement released by Nust on Friday, over 100 kids enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing their creativity while highlighting the critical connection of climate change and community health.
It also stated that a sizable contingent of educators and students from Fazia Medical College, Bahria University, SZAMBU, and NSHS attended the function. Among the attendees were Dr. Osman Hasan, Pro-Rector Academics, Nust; and Dr. Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer, Islamabad.
Dr. Zaeem emphasized the significance of youth participation in combating climate change. “We must include young people in the dialogue about climate change,” he declared. Their fresh viewpoints and creative ideas are essential for creating solutions for a sustainable future. Their dedication to changing the world is reflected in the artwork on exhibit today.”
Professor Dr. Osman Hasan emphasized the importance of colleges in raising public knowledge of environmental issues.According to him, Nust is dedicated to incorporating environmental awareness into its curriculum.He insisted that this art competition is evidence of our commitment to helping our kids develop their creativity and sense of responsibility and to challenge their preconceived notions about environmental challenges.
“We are thrilled to host this event aimed at not only showcasing our students’ creative talent but also raising awareness about the impact of climate change,” stated Prof. Dr. Rizwan Ashraf, Principal of NSHS. We can encourage the next generation to take up the cause of a healthier planet by implementing such projects.
Jhpiego’s Country Director, Dr. Aminah Khan, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to the cause by saying, “Jhpiego acknowledges the important role that environmental factors play in community health.”
