Islamabad, Dec 16: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has announced the successful revival of a heavy oil well at the Rajian Oil Field, located in Gujar Khan E.L., District Chakwal, as part of its efforts to enhance production capabilities. The company reported that the field’s production will now increase from 1,500 barrels per day (BPD) to 2,500 BPD following the revival.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to optimize production at the Rajian field, which includes executing 11 workover jobs and implementing advanced artificial lift systems. The first well targeted for optimization was Rajian-3A, which extends to a depth of 3,652 meters. This well had been temporarily suspended in 2020 due to formation challenges but was successfully revived using an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) in the Chorgali-Sakessar and Tobra formations, boosting production by 1,000 BPD.
OGDC is optimistic about further production gains as the optimization program progresses across the remaining wells. The company has deployed its owned Rig N-4 to implement the program, with the rig stationed at the Rajian field for the entire duration of the operation. The company has promised to share the anticipated outcomes with shareholders once the optimization efforts are completed, underlining its commitment to maximizing asset potential and creating value.
