Islamabad 1 August: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of oil reserves at its exploratory well Chakar-1, located in District Tando Allah Yar, Sindh.

The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday that the discovery was made in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which holds a 5 percent carried interest in the project.

According to the notice, Chakar-1 was spudded on June 2, 2025, under the Tando Allah Yar Exploration License and drilled down to a depth of 1,926 meters into the Upper Shale of the Lower Goru Formation.

The interpretation of wireline logs and Reservoir Evaluation Services (RES) led to a Drill Stem Test (DST) in the B-Sand formation, followed by testing with an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP), which confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons.

OGDCL said the successful discovery underscores its ongoing efforts to enhance domestic energy production through active exploration.
