Islamabad, 13 June 2025: Oil Prices Surge as geopolitical instability in the Middle East fuels uncertainty across global energy markets. International oil prices surge over $75 a barrel after Israel launched strikes on Iran’s main nuclear facilities and ballistic missile factories.
Earlier today, Israel initiated Operation Rising Lion, an extensive military campaign in which more than 200 Israeli air force fighter jets targeted Iran nuclear facilities, including Natanz nuclear site, ballistic missile factories and military commanders.

According to Iranian media, Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of the Iranian military were killed in the Israeli attack. Furthermore, six Iranian nuclear scientists also died in the Israeli strikes.
Civilian casualties were also reported, including several children killed in a residential area of Tehran. Several injuries were also reported.
In the attack, many notable people died. Iran is the largest oil producer. So prices have soared. In a noteworthy reaction, international crude benchmarks witnessed significant upward movement.
In London, the price of Brent crude saw a sharp climb, increasing by $5 per barrel, bringing the new rate to $74.63. This surge reflects heightened market anxiety over potential supply disruptions in the region.

Simultaneously, US crude oil prices followed the same trajectory. West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the American benchmark, recorded a jump of $5.45, pushing it to $73.49 per barrel.
