Islamabad, Dec 26: Android and iOS have long drawn inspiration from each other, with Android’s customization prowess often compared to Apple’s unmatched ecosystem continuity. Samsung is now stepping up its game with One UI 7, introducing enhanced cross-device integration to rival Apple’s seamless connectivity.
Currently, Samsung Galaxy Book users can enjoy features like copying and pasting text and wireless file transfers via Quick Share. The One UI 7 update promises to expand these capabilities with a new Camera Continuity feature, enabling users to take photos or scan documents with their Galaxy phones and seamlessly insert them into Samsung Notes or Samsung Internet on another device.
This feature draws comparisons to Apple’s Continuity Camera, which integrates photos and scanned documents from iPhones and iPads into Macs. While Samsung’s approach currently limits the functionality to first-party apps like Samsung Notes and Internet, Apple’s system-wide compatibility offers greater flexibility.
Interestingly, recent changes in the wording of Samsung’s “Continue on other devices” setting hint at a possible expansion to third-party applications. This development was spotted in the latest One UI 7 beta by Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman. While he couldn’t test the feature, it suggests that future software updates could unlock broader usability across Samsung’s ecosystem.
For the Camera Continuity feature to work, both the Galaxy phone and Galaxy Book must meet specific criteria: being on the same Wi-Fi network, within Bluetooth range, and logged into the same Samsung account. While this new functionality positions Samsung closer to Apple’s level of cross-device integration, the potential expansion to third-party apps could make it a game-changer for the Android ecosystem.
