Islamabad: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have intensified their crackdown on reckless driving by registering 112 FIRs against motorists exceeding 150 km/h on key motorways across Pakistan.
This strict action aims to reduce accidents and improve road safety. NHMP has been actively enforcing speed limits on major routes, including:

Strict Penalties for Violators
According to an NHMP spokesperson, officials caught and detained offenders along with their vehicles before handing them over to local police. They face charges of reckless and negligent driving, reinforcing the department’s zero-tolerance policy.

Zero Tolerance for Over-Speeding
NHMP officials warned drivers to obey speed limits, emphasizing that private vehicles must stay below 120 km/h, while public transport vehicles cannot exceed 110 km/h. Speeding not only breaks traffic laws but puts lives at serious risk.

Inspector General Riffat Mukhtar Raja ordered a complete ban on vehicles exceeding 150 km/h. He also directed his team to increase patrols, use AI-based speed detection, and implement harsher penalties for repeated violations.
