Over 1,000 transgender individuals have received vocational training under the Pehchan programme, launched in November 2024 as part of the Chief Minister’s Skilled Punjab Initiative.
According to the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF), 1,054 individuals were trained in various fields including beauty and grooming, culinary arts, performing arts, information technology, handicrafts and digital freelancing.
More than 980 of those trained have secured employment with established organisations, while others have launched small businesses across cities such as Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Gujranwala.

The programme, delivered in collaboration with over 18 training providers, offers technical training along with stipends, travel allowances, professional toolkits, and support for official documentation.
Described as Punjab’s first dedicated skills initiative for the transgender community, Pehchan aims to promote inclusion and economic participation among marginalised groups.
