Islamabad, May 19, 2025: A Punjab Police spokesperson reported that, since the beginning of this year, 3,375 people have been taken into custody across the province for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, with 3,301 First Information Reports (FIRs) filed in relation to these violations.
Law enforcement also seized a total of 446,506 kites and 15,888 spools of kite string. Charge sheets have been submitted in 3,060 of these cases.

In Lahore alone, authorities arrested 1,010 individuals, filed 991 cases, and recovered 24,824 kites along with 1,168 spools of string.
In comparison, last year saw 12,525 arrests and 11,866 registered cases in Lahore and other areas of Punjab for similar offenses.
The Inspector General of Punjab has instructed strict implementation of the revised Kite Flying Ban Bill.

Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) have been ordered to escalate crackdowns on those involved in the production, sale, or flying of kites.
He emphasized that this dangerous activity poses serious risks and must not be allowed under any circumstances.
He further directed that individuals involved in the online trade of metallic string and kites must also be held accountable through legal action.
