Islamabad, May 14, 2025: A total of 5,402 Pakistani beggars have been deported from multiple countries during the year 2024and the first five months of 2025, according to a document submitted by the Ministry of Interior to the National Assembly.

As reported, these beggars were expelled from six countries which include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar and Oman.

In 2024 only, 4,850 Pakistani were returned from foreign countries.

Saudi Arabia has the highest number, 4,498 cases of deported beggars. Iraq followed with 242 deportations, while 55 people were sent back from Malaysia and 49 from the UAE.

It is further reported that from January to May 2025, 552 additional deportations were recorded.

Out of these, 535 Pakistanis were banished from Saudi Arabia, nine from the UAE, and five from Iraq.

The rising number of deportations because of begging has sparked concern among lawmakers and officials.

Lawmakers demands for stricter monitoring and preventive measures to curb such activities abroad.
