Islamabad, Apr 24, 2025: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has revealed plans to upgrade Dera Ghazi Khan Airport, aiming to facilitate Airbus A320 flights. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the upcoming year.
This announcement was made during the PAA’s monthly e-Kacheri session, led by Deputy Director General of Works and Development, Sumair Saeed.
During the live session, Saeed emphasized that enhancing Dera Ghazi Khan Airport would significantly improve regional connectivity, allowing larger aircraft to operate.
This long-awaited development is set to benefit both the local community and airline operators.
The improvements are expected to unlock new flight routes, increase travel frequency, and ultimately support the socioeconomic growth of South Punjab.
Alongside the Dera Ghazi Khan upgrades, Saeed mentioned that Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar is also set for major improvements.

These upgrades include enhancements to the airside infrastructure and the expansion of parking facilities.
These initiatives are designed to improve the passenger experience while addressing the increasing traffic demands at the airport.
Saeed also addressed regional air travel issues by announcing a business proposal to multiple airlines.
This proposal offers incentives to airlines to launch flights between Gwadar and various destinations in Punjab and beyond.
This is part of a broader initiative to boost the commercial viability of underutilized airports and enhance the nation’s overall connectivity.
Responding to public concerns raised during the e-Kacheri session, Saeed addressed complaints regarding flight delays, lost baggage, and inappropriate staff conduct.
He instructed that all such grievances be forwarded to the Civil Aviation Authority with a detailed report for necessary follow-up actions.
Additionally, following a complaint from a passenger at Lahore Airport, Saeed directed that tetanus shots be added to all airport first-aid kits to improve safety and preparedness.
