Islamabad, Aug 11, 2025: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Sunday dismissed circulating media claims that Islamabad International Airport would remain shut for eight days, calling such reports “false and deceptive.”

The authority clarified that flight movements will only pause for short two-hour intervals on selected days to allow rehearsals for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 14, PTV reported, quoting an official PAA statement.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) released by PAA outlined the temporary restrictions as follows:

  • 6–9 August: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • 11–14 August: 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Apart from these brief halts, all other flight schedules will operate normally. Passengers have been urged to check with their respective airlines for updated timings to prevent travel disruptions.

PAA explained that these short suspensions are necessary for security checks and logistical arrangements ahead of the official Independence Day flypast.
