Islamabad, Mar 13, 2025: In a recent session of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), various critical financial irregularities, underutilized funds, and unlawful activities came under scrutiny.
The committee evaluated audit objections and instructed the relevant departments to take immediate corrective measures.
A major concern raised was the non-utilization of Rs. 27.5 million from the Economic Development Fund (EDF) over the past five years.
The chairman emphasized the urgency of accountability and requested a comprehensive report detailing the project’s current status.
An inquiry has been initiated to determine the causes of negligence and to identify those responsible for the lapse.
The committee also reviewed an audit objection concerning an alarming rise of Rs. 89.72 billion in interest on a loan acquired by the Trading Corporation.
PAC directed the Ministry of Commerce to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance and resolve the issue within a month.
This development has raised serious concerns about financial management and oversight of public resources.
Additionally, the committee examined an audit objection regarding the sale of rice mill plants in the fiscal year 2023-24.
Findings revealed that the sale proceeded without conducting a proper market evaluation, sparking concerns over transparency and potential financial setbacks.
