Islamabad, Sep 14: Pakistan and China had their ninth round of bilateral consultations on arms control and non-proliferation. Topics of discussion included new technologies, bilateral collaboration, and regional and international security.
Director General Sun Xiaobo and Ambassador Tahir Andrabi spearheaded the negotiations; they also had meetings with Ambassador Amna Baloch, the foreign secretary. Comprehensive talks were held between the two parties covering the whole range of nonproliferation and arms control concerns, as well as cyber-security, emerging and innovative technologies, cyber-space, artificial intelligence, and bilateral collaboration in peaceful nuclear technology applications.
The agenda and dynamics of several multilateral forums, including the Conference on Disarmament, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, and other disarmament-related conventions and treaty bodies, were examined.
During the bilateral talks on arms control between Pakistan and China in Islamabad, Director General Sun Xiaobo also paid a visit to Ambassador Amna Baloch, the Foreign Secretary. The favorable trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and China was acknowledged.
