Pakistan and China reiterated their strong commitment to safeguarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project against any opposition or adversaries, as announced in a joint statement on Friday.
During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch disclosed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held discussions with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.
“In their extensive talks, they emphasized mutual support on core issues and pledged ongoing dedication to the high-quality advancement of CPEC, ensuring timely completion of all ongoing projects,” stated the FO representative.
Furthermore, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast determination to guarantee the safety and security of Chinese personnel and ventures within Pakistan.
Both parties concurred on sustaining robust communication channels, including bolstering institutional connections across various domains of bilateral cooperation.
Additionally, Baloch revealed that the dialogue culminated in the signing of 23 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), witnessed by the premiers, aimed at enhancing collaboration in transport infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, media, healthcare, water resources, socio-economic development, and other areas of shared interest.
Furthermore, the two nations exchanged Letters of Intent to conduct workshops focusing on governance capacity building and industrial park development. They also celebrated the inauguration of the Pak-China Friendship Hospital and the Desalination Plant in Gwadar, as reported by APP.
