Pakistan ports are set to play a major role in expanding trade with Kazakhstan, as both countries move closer to business cooperation through joint ventures and logistics support.
In a meeting between Kazakh Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in the maritime sector.
The minister proposed joint ventures at Karachi and Gwadar ports, pointing out opportunities in Gwadar free zones. He said Pakistan strategic location could help Kazakhstan, a landlocked country, connect with global markets through reliable sea access.
Ambassador Kistafin welcomed the proposal, adding that Kazakhstan is keen to use Pakistani ports as transit hubs, not only for its own trade but also for Central Asian countries. He also revealed that a high-level Kazakh delegation, led by the country Communication Minister, will soon visit Pakistan to hold detailed talks on trade and maritime cooperation.
