Islamabad, Sep 27: Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rt. Hon. Sir Keir Starmer, decided to further develop their bilateral connections in a number of areas, including commerce and investment.
The two parties discussed issues of shared interest and bilateral ties between the two nations at a meeting held on the fringes of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The prime minister briefed his British counterpart on the state of the economy in the nation and the steps the government is taking to foster economic growth, particularly the efforts to broaden the revenue base and implement the FBR tax reforms.
PM Shahbaz Sharif also discussed the difficulties Pakistan was facing as a result of the negative effects of climate change.He emphasized that Pakistan had made sacrifices in the battle against terrorism and that the world community needed to act together as a whole since terrorism was a global problem.
The prime minister talked about the projects and investment potential in Pakistan, pointing out that the UK was the country’s third-largest investor. The prime minister acknowledged the important role that Pakistanis living in the UK have played in the growth of both nations, but he also stated that he hoped to make the most of their efforts in order to accomplish shared development objectives.
