Islamabad – May 1, 2025: In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, Pakistan has granted permission for 150 Afghan trucks to cross into India through the Wagah border, the Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.
The decision follows a formal request from the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad, which had appealed for the release of Afghan trucks stranded at various transit points in Pakistan.
The trucks, which had been stuck in Pakistan for several days due to a suspension in transit trade, are those that had entered Pakistan prior to April 25.
In response to the appeal, Pakistan authorized the movement of these specific trucks, with a detailed list of the 150 vehicles provided to the relevant authorities for smooth passage across the border.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the decision was a reflection of the strong and friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.
In its communication to the Afghan Embassy, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to fostering cordial ties, especially during times of logistical challenges. The trucks had faced delays at multiple checkpoints due to restrictions imposed on Afghan-India trade.
Furthermore, the Foreign Office has requested the Afghan authorities to submit information on any remaining trucks that might still be stranded. This request suggests that further clearance could be considered, with the potential for additional movements if necessary.
