Pakistan and Bangladesh have formally agreed to introduce visa-free entry for diplomats and government officials, a decision recently approved by the Advisory Council Committee. Under this arrangement, holders of diplomatic and official passports from both countries will be able to travel without visas for the next five years.

Officials said the move will help strengthen diplomatic relations and create easier channels for official engagement between the two South Asian nations. The agreement is also seen as a step toward boosting bilateral trust after years of tense ties.

Alongside the visa-free entry decision, Pakistan and Bangladesh have committed to enhancing trade and industrial cooperation. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and Bangladesh’s Adviser for Industries, Adilur Rahman Khan, in Dhaka.

During his visit, the Commerce Minister highlighted Pakistan’s interest in becoming part of Bangladesh’s expanding industrial landscape through joint ventures and investment opportunities. He also encouraged Bangladeshi traders to import cement, sugar, footwear, and leather goods from Pakistan.

Relations between the two countries have begun to improve after the ouster of long-time premier Sheikh Hasina in August 2024, who fled to India following her removal from power. With this new development, both governments are aiming to rebuild ties through practical steps in diplomacy and trade.
