Islamabad, 24 March 2025: Pakistan and Bangladesh have decided to replace their scheduled ODI matches with T20Is in their upcoming series.
This move aims to give both teams the best possible preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.
Sami Ul Hasan, the Director of Media and Communications at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), confirmed the adjustment on Sunday.
He explained that altering the format of the series would allow both nations to focus more on T20 cricket ahead of the global tournament.
Originally, Bangladesh was set to visit Pakistan in May for three ODIs and three T20Is, as part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, this will now be changed to five T20Is.
Similarly, Pakistan tour of Bangladesh in July, which was initially planned to feature three ODIs outside the FTP, will now be a T20I series with three matches.
Both teams will also be competing in the Asia Cup in India this September, which will be played in the T20 format and will assist in the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is currently engaged in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where they have already secured a 3-1 lead with one match left.
After this, the two nations will shift focus to a three-match ODI series scheduled from March 29 to April 5.
Pakistan attention will turn to the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), slated for April 11 to May 18, where the country’s top T20 talents will continue to sharpen their skills.
