Islamabad, Oct 1: Pakistan Boxing Federation Rejects PSB Ban. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) banned its officials due to a fighter who went missing overseas, but the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has overturned the decision. The PBF has further described the investigation report presented by the ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination’s (IPC) special inquiry committee as wholly unfair and biased.
President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation Muhammad Khalid Mehmood presided over a meeting of the Federation’s General Council and Executive Committee. They adopted the federation’s constitutional revisions and the audit report for the fiscal year 2023–2024 during the meeting. Furthermore, during the meeting, Begum Ishrat Ashraf was affirmed as the Pakistan Boxing Federation’s elected chairperson.
The conference attendees unanimously voiced their grave worry over the Pakistan Sports Board’s activities and disapproved of the report about the boxer who used an official passport to fly to Italy for the Olympic qualifiers with the intention of hiding there. It was determined that the boxer possessed the appropriate clearance (NOC) from the relevant department.
In the course of the meeting, the President of the Federation provided the members with an update on the Pakistan Boxing Federation’s continuous endeavors and contributions towards maintaining boxing as an Olympic sport. In addition, a monetary incentive was announced for Ayesha Mumtaz in celebration of her bronze medal achievement at the Asian Junior and School Boys and Girls Boxing Championship.
