Islamabad, Aug 12: The Pakistan Meteorological Department, there will be increasing monsoon activity from August 14 through August 18, with sporadic interruptions. August 14, 2024, is predicted to be a night of torrential showers.
It is predicted that a low-pressure system from northwest India will proceed into central Pakistan, bringing with it a substantial amount of moisture from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Furthermore, on August 15, a westerly wave is predicted to approach the upper areas.
The following are the forecast’s specifics:
Kashmir: From the evening of August 14 to August 18, with sporadic pauses in between, rain and thunderstorms are predicted in Kashmir (including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur). There may also be severe downpours at times.
Punjab/Islamabad: From August 14 to August 18, with sporadic breaks in between, rain and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall scattered throughout Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha. Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, and Rajanpur are all expected to have rain and thunderstorms.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: From August 14 to August 18, with sporadic breaks in between, rain and thunderstorms with scattered heavy falls are predicted in the following areas: Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Balochistan: From August 15 to August 18, with sporadic breaks, rain and thunderstorms are predicted in Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kalat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Mastung, Sibbi, Sherani, Kohlu, Bolan, Harnai, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, and along the Makran coast.
Sindh: From the evening of August 15 to August 18, with sporadic breaks in between, isolated areas in Mithi, Sanghar, Mityari, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu are predicted to have rain and thunderstorms. During this time, hazy skies and light rain are predicted along the coast of Sindh.
Gilgit-Baltistan: Generally speaking, hazy to partly cloudy conditions are anticipated. From August 15 to August 18, with sporadic breaks in between, Gilgit-Baltistan (including Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar) is expected to get rain.
