Islamabad, Mar 13, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in the northern regions of the country today (Thursday), with snowfall expected over higher elevations.
The PMD’s daily weather bulletin states, “Wind and thunderstorms, along with showers and snowfall over mountainous areas, will hit select locations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and northern Punjab.”
The Meteorological Office further explained that a weak westerly system is currently impacting the upper regions of the country.
While the majority of areas will remain dry with partly cloudy conditions, intermittent rainfall is expected in several cities over the next 48 hours.
Rainfall Prediction for March 14-15
Several areas in Balochistan are likely to witness rain, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Harnai, Zhob, and Sherani.
In Punjab, showers are anticipated in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sheikhupura.
Additionally, certain areas of Sindh, including Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Larkana, may also receive rainfall.

The forecast also includes precipitation in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Khanewal.
Weather Conditions Over the Past 24 Hours
On Tuesday, most regions of the country experienced partly cloudy weather, while scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms were reported in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded significant rainfall, with Cherat receiving 14mm and Upper Dir 12mm.
In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad registered 7mm of precipitation, while Murree in Punjab noted 4mm and Islamabad recorded 3mm. Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan saw 5mm of rain, while Nokkundi in Balochistan measured 1mm.
Regarding temperatures, the lowest readings were observed in Leh at -3°C, while Gupis and Parachinar reported -1°C.
