Islamabad, Nov 28: The Pakistan Blind Cricket Team showcased an exceptional performance, securing a dominant 10-wicket victory over Nepal in the Blind T20 World Cup 2024, advancing to the semi-finals. The match, held at the Ghani Institute Cricket Ground on Wednesday, saw Pakistan chase down a modest target of 101 runs in just 6.4 overs without losing a wicket.
Pakistan’s Dominant Performance:
- Nematullah played a stellar knock, remaining unbeaten on 73 runs from 30 balls, leading the charge.
- Mohammad Safdar supported him well, contributing an impressive 24 not out from 14 balls, guiding the team to their fourth consecutive win.
- This victory followed a walkover triumph over India, further cementing Pakistan’s strong position in the competition.
Nepal’s Struggle:
- Batting first, Nepal struggled, managing only 100/5 in 18 overs.
- Bharat Thapa top-scored for Nepal with 39 runs off 46 balls, while Naresh Chaudhary made 17 runs.
- Haroon Khan was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming 2/5 in his spell, while Muhammad Salman, Matiullah, and Nematullah each took a wicket.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Register Big Wins:
- Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 53 runs, with Suranga Sampat scoring 56 runs off 33 balls, helping Sri Lanka post 217/6.
- South Africa managed 164/9, despite fighting efforts from their players. Chandana Deshpriya and Saman Tushara took two wickets each for Sri Lanka.
- Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets. Afghanistan set a target of 149 runs, but Bangladesh chased it down in just 12 overs. Arif Hussain played a stellar knock, scoring 89 not out from 44 balls.
The first phase of the Blind T20 World Cup 2024 in Lahore has concluded. After a rest day on November 28, the second phase will begin in Multan on November 29.
