Islamabad, April 02: Pakistan has sent a 35-ton shipment of essential humanitarian aid to Myanmar, including medical supplies and emergency relief materials, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.
The relief consignment, transported via a special cargo flight from Islamabad International Airport, aims to support displaced communities affected by the devastating earthquake.
Myanmar Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 2,719
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry oversaw the departure of the cargo flight, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to assisting disaster-affected populations in their time of need.
The aid package comprises vital relief items such as tents, blankets, tarpaulins, water purification modules, ready-to-eat meals, and medical supplies.
These materials will be handed over to Myanmar authorities upon arrival at Yangon airport.
Meanwhile, Myanmar continues to grapple with the aftermath of the catastrophe, as the official death toll has climbed to 2,719.
Reports from China Central Television (CCTV), citing Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing, indicate that around 4,521 people have been injured, with more than 400 individuals still missing. Authorities fear the final death toll could exceed 3,000 as rescue operations continue.
Pakistan’s relief effort underscores the country’s solidarity with Myanmar as the nation struggles to recover from the widespread devastation caused by the earthquake.
