Islamabad, Dec 26: Pakistan has expressed profound condolences and solidarity with Azerbaijan over the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 aircraft near Aktau, Kazakhstan. President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt condolences to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani government, and its people. He expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved families and emphasized Pakistan’s support during this tragic time.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed sorrow over the incident, writing on social media “Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased, and we wish a swift recovery to the injured. Pakistan stands with Azerbaijan in this hour of grief.”
The aircraft, operating as flight J2-8243, was en route from Baku to Grozny when it crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan. Azerbaijani media outlets reported the tragedy, and Kazakh authorities confirmed the survival of 28 passengers, though the exact number of fatalities remains undisclosed.
