ISLAMABAD – June 10, 2025: The federal government has announced a significant new policy initiative aimed at making homeownership more accessible for middle- and lower-income families, alongside a broader push to stimulate growth in the country’s housing sector.
As detailed in the recent budget speech, a comprehensive tax credit scheme is set to be introduced. This credit will benefit individuals who are constructing new homes or purchasing existing houses up to 10 marlas in size, or flats not exceeding 2,000 square feet. This measure is intended to provide much-needed financial relief and incentivize construction activity in the affordable housing segment.

Recognizing the crucial role of financing in homeownership, the government has also pledged to promote mortgage financing through a robust and comprehensive policy framework. This strategy aims to ensure that a larger segment of the population can access affordable home loans. Under this new approach, a coordinated system involving both public and private financial institutions will be implemented to streamline and simplify the process of obtaining housing loans.
Officials stated that this multi-pronged strategy is designed to not only ease the financial burden on aspiring homeowners but also to inject vitality into the construction industry, a sector critical for job creation and economic growth.
