Islamabad, Oct 4: Pakistan’s Test head coach, Jason Gillespie, has stressed the importance of fitness in preparing for the upcoming Test series against England.
In a recent interview, Gillespie remarked, “We can’t afford to have players in international cricket who are not fit or strong enough to negotiate the rigors of the game.
” He highlighted the need for consistency and fine-tuning the team’s skills, following Pakistan’s 2-0 loss to Bangladesh. Fitness will now be a key focus moving forward.
Appointed as Test coach in April, Gillespie is determined to help Pakistan regain its winning form. As the team prepares to face England, led by Brendon McCullum, in a three-match series starting Monday, Gillespie expressed optimism.
He noted, “We match up well against England. It’s going to be a challenging series, but we are excited to show what we can do,” acknowledging Pakistan’s role as underdogs but remaining hopeful about their prospects
