Islamabad, Aug 7, 2025: The popular singing reality show, Pakistan Idol is making a major comeback on screens after more than ten years after its initial broadcast in 2014. Music icons Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Bilal Maqsood have been officially announced as the new panel of judges.

The comeback is a new chapter for Pakistan Idol, the 50th international adaptation of the global hit od British franchise. Originally aired on Geo Entertainment in December 2013, the show quickly became a fan favorite, gaining immense popularity. The previous edition had featured judges living legends like Ali Azmat, Bushra Ansari and Hadiqa Kiani. Moreover, the final episode saw over a million public votes, crowning Zamad Baig as the winner after a thrilling finale.

This reboot is being produced by local media firm MHL Global in collaboration with Fremantle, the official distributor of the Idol format. In a statement to Variety, Zoya Merchant, Director at MHL, said, “Pakistan has incredible musical talent, and this platform will not only spotlight it nationwide but elevate it to the global stage.”

For the first time in the franchise’s history, the show will be broadcast simultaneously on five TV channels across Pakistan, making it more accessible to viewers from all provinces and linguistic backgrounds.

Auditions have already started online through the Begin platform, with on-ground selection events planned in large cities and underrepresented regions. Filming will start later this year, and air dates will be shared soon.
