Islamabad, 29 May 2025:  First Blockchain Computing License has been officially granted in Pakistan, signaling a significant leap in the country’s journey toward digital innovation.

The license has been awarded to Higgs Computing Limited, a new high-performance data center, as part of a broader strategy to attract investment and advance technological capabilities.

The approval was issued by the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) a government-led body focused on fostering tech development.

The move has been supported by key national institutions, including the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom and the State Bank of Pakistan.

Blockchain, AI and Big Data Combine in New HPC Project

This new license enables operations that blend Blockchain technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data analytics, creating one of the country’s most advanced computing initiatives to date.

Officials indicated that the high-performance computing (HPC) system is expected to bring in up to $2 million annually in foreign revenue.

The First Blockchain Computing License represents a major milestone not just in digital infrastructure, but also in harnessing surplus power generation.

The data center will initially run on 7 megawatts of electricity, turning excess capacity into a revenue-generating, tech-driven solution.

Sources familiar with the project noted that Blockchain integration will enhance transparency, bolster data security, and improve the efficiency of digital operations.

Government representatives have described the initiative as a transformational move that underscores Pakistan’s ambitions to build a modern digital economy.

By issuing the First Blockchain Computing License, authorities aim to set a benchmark for future investments in emerging technologies.
