The Women’s Software Technology Park has been launched in Muzaffarabad, making it the Pakistan first dedicated IT space for women. This initiative has been set up by the Special Communications Organisation (SCO), the public-sector telecom operator serving Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The facility is located inside Fatima Jinnah Women’s Postgraduate College in the heart of the city.

Built exclusively for women, the park provides a modern and safe workplace for freelancers, IT experts and entrepreneurs. It has uninterrupted electricity, high-speed internet and a professional environment aimed at creating jobs, supporting startups and building technical skills among women.

SCO Director General Maj-Gen Umar Ahmed Shah noted that the project is part of SCO IT Vision 2025, which is focused on increasing women’s participation in Pakistan’s digital economy.

He further revealed that SCO has already established 17 technology parks and 76 freelancing hubs across AJK and GB in the last 20 months, generating over 7,000 jobs and empowering more than 1,500 freelancers. The target is to expand the network to 100 centres by the end of this month.
