Islamabad, Jan 6: Sky Wings, a private aviation company, has unveiled its air ambulance service in Pakistan, following the example set by the Edhi Foundation.
The service will commence with a Piper Seneca aircraft based in Karachi, which is capable of transporting patients from any airport in the country to Karachi for urgent medical care. The service includes a specialized medical team to provide assistance during flights. Imran Aslam Khan, CEO of Sky Wings Aviation, has indicated plans to expand the fleet by adding two more aircraft soon. The company aims to offer nationwide coverage, facilitating quick patient transfers from both rural and urban areas to healthcare facilities. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance emergency medical services in Pakistan.
In a related development, in July 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched a government-run air ambulance service, which successfully transported an injured woman from Mianwali to Rawalpindi, fulfilling a public commitment.
