Maritime routes are crucial as they enable nations to extend their reach beyond terrestrial boundaries, promoting the exchange of raw materials and goods. Currently, over 75% of global trade is conducted via sea, and this figure is expected to grow.
Pakistan’s geographical positioning at the nexus of Central Asia, Southwest Asia, and the Persian Gulf positions it as a pivotal gateway in the maritime industry.
Vice Admiral Abbasi further discussed Pakistan’s rich marine, fisheries, mineral, and energy resources, which present opportunities for substantial economic growth. He also pointed to the potential multiplier effects of the Blue Economy, particularly through synergies with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which could significantly enhance Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure.
The INX service’s route includes stops at major ports such as Hazira, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, and several key European ports including London Gateway, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Antwerp, before returning to Karachi.
This service operates with a fleet of 6,000 TEU container ships, completing its circuit in 77 days and promises weekly departures.
Sohail Shams, CEO of United Marine Agencies, stressed that the INX not only diversifies the maritime offerings in the region but also strengthens trade connections between Western India and Northern Europe.
This initiative by HMM, in partnership with Ocean Network Express and United Marine Agencies, aims to streamline operations, improve logistical connections, and foster economic growth through enhanced global trade facilitation.
This service represents more than a logistical route; it is a testament to innovation, progress, and the collaborative spirit of global maritime partners. It underscores Karachi’s role as a critical trade hub and gateway to international markets, setting a new benchmark in maritime services.
