Islamabad, Mar 7, 2025: The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30, 2025, indicating that Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be observed on March 31, 2025, in Pakistan.
Moon Sighting and Eid Date
Astronomical models suggest that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal will be visible on the evening of March 30, 2025. This observation aligns with SUPARCO’s analysis, leading to the expectation that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Potential Six-Day Holiday
If Eid begins on Monday, March 31, 2025, the government is expected to announce public holidays from Monday to Wednesday (March 31 to April 2).
Given that the preceding days, Saturday and Sunday (March 29 and 30), are already weekends, this arrangement would result in a continuous six-day break for many citizens.
Official Confirmation Pending
While astronomical predictions provide a basis for planning, the official date for Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on the actual moon sighting.
