Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday signaled plans to send thousands of Pakistani labourers, skilled workers, and professionals to Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to boost employment and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the global workforce.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 4th phase of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, the prime minister shared details from his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, where discussions centered on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. He said the Kingdom had expressed a strong demand for trained Pakistani workers.

Shehbaz said that Pakistan would strive to ensure its youth gain employment in Saudi Arabia’s major upcoming projects and events.
“Saudi Arabia requires highly skilled individuals for significant initiatives, including the 2030 World Expo and the 2034 FIFA World Cup,” he noted, while lauding Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 and its potential benefits for Pakistan.
He further stated that Pakistani diplomats and officials are already in advanced talks with Saudi counterparts, and that progress has been encouraging.
“Good news will come soon,” the prime minister assured, adding that the Kingdom intends to offer free training in artificial intelligence and modern technologies to millions of Pakistanis.
He also highlighted the merit-based distribution of 100,000 laptops under the Youth Laptop Scheme 2025.
