Islamabad, Mar 23, 2025: Pakistan is celebrating Pakistan Day with patriotic zeal today, as citizens, military officials, and national leaders come together to honor the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940.
This landmark event laid the foundation for the country’s independence, making March 23 a significant day in the nation’s history.
A Grand Celebration at Aiwan-e-Sadr
Unlike previous years, the highlight of the celebrations—the grand Pakistan Day parade—was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr instead of the traditional Shakarparian Parade Ground.
President Asif Ali Zardari graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and senior leaders from the navy and air force.
Political figures, foreign dignitaries, and other esteemed guests were also present at the event.
Symbolic Events Mark the Occasion
The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, followed by special prayers in mosques for the country’s unity, peace, and prosperity.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies took place nationwide, while schools and cultural institutions organized events to highlight the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence.

Remembering the Historic Lahore Resolution
The Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, at Minto Park (now Iqbal Park), was the foundation for the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
To honor this legacy, discussions and academic forums are being held nationwide, reflecting on the resolution’s relevance in today’s geopolitical landscape.
This year’s parade featured impressive military contingents, cultural floats, and an awe-inspiring fly-past by the Pakistan Air Force.
Foreign ambassadors praised Pakistan’s progress, highlighting the country’s resilience and role in the international community.
