Islamabad, June 19, 2025: The Pakistan Navy on Wednesday efficiently executed a humanitarian mission to rescue an injured Indian sailor from a Liberia-flagged oil tanker in the Arabian Sea, as per a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the tanker, MT High Leader, had issued a distress call requesting urgent medical aid for one of its Indian crew members.
Upon receiving the signal, Pakistan Navy’s Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) initiated the rescue.
“Upon receiving the distress signal, Pakistan Navy promptly dispatched a medical team via a ship and a helicopter to render assistance,” the ISPR noted, adding that the injured person was stabilised and transported to a hospital in Karachi for advanced medical attention.
The sailor’s condition was critical at the time of evacuation, but authorities stated that quick action and joint coordination led to his safe relocation for treatment.
The Indian sailor was identified as Ahlwat Priyanshu, a resident of Patna, Bihar.

In a video message, he expressed gratitude to Pakistan Navy for timely rescuing stating, “After the injury, my seniors contacted the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Time Security Agency. They came and rescued me at the earliest possible way and give me so well treatment. I am so very glad and I am very grateful to them. And I am safe and secure over here.”

ISPR said that the successful operation reflects the Pakistan Navy determination to protect human lives at sea, regardless of nationality, “The mission is a testament to the Pakistan Navy’s humanitarian commitment and its exemplary role in maritime safety.”
