Islamabad, July 15, 2025: In a major development, Pakistan Railways has once again opted for privatization, deciding to hand over the management of 11 passenger trains to private companies. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing service quality and increasing the department’s revenue stream.

The trains marked for privatization include:
Hazara Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Millat Express, Rawal Express, Badar Express, Ghauri Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Express, and Mohenjodaro Passenger.

Interested private companies can submit their bids by August 12, 2025, with technical proposals scheduled for opening the same day, according to Railway authorities.

Alongside privatization, Pakistan Railways is also rolling out significant service upgrades. Key trains like Pakistan Express, Karachi Express, and Millat Express will soon feature dedicated dining cars, while Jaffar Express is set to receive a state-of-the-art in-train kitchen.

Passengers on the Lahore–Rawalpindi route—especially those boarding Subak Raftar, Subak Kharam, Islamabad Express, and Rawal Express—can look forward to free onboard services, further improving travel standards.
