Islamabad, July 30, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched the improved Pak Business Express, a revamped train service between Lahore and Karachi, aimed at regaining public trust in Pakistan Railways and making travel more convenient for citizens.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Lahore Railway Station, where the Prime Minister also inspected newly developed facilities introduced as part of the modernization.
The Pak Business Express will operate between Lahore and Karachi, covering the route in about 18 and a half hours. The service features air-conditioned compartments, online booking options, modern waiting areas, and reception points, all designed to enhance passenger comfort and reliability.

Business-class travelers will benefit from upgraded European-style features. During his address, Shehbaz Sharif praised Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi for bringing back a nearly dysfunctional system and turning it into an active service once again.
He also appreciated Khawaja Saad Rafique’s role during the previous PDM setup for reclaiming railway land and modernizing key stations across the country.

The Prime Minister highlighted that this development is part of a broader agenda to reform public sector institutions and boost national infrastructure. He noted continued cooperation with China under the second phase of CPEC, along with improving relations with the United States.
On the economic front, Shehbaz Sharif said that inflation has come down by 5%, and current financial signs point to a slow but steady recovery. “Our country is moving in the right direction,” he remarked.
