Islamabad, June 24, 2025: Pakistan Railways has signed an agreement with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to outsource cleaning services at two major train stations—Lahore Railway Station and Cantt Railway Station.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve sanitation standards across Pakistan’s railway network through public-private partnerships.
Under the new contract, LWMC will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness at both stations for a monthly fee of Rs6 million. A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held at Pakistan Railways Headquarters to mark the collaboration.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch acknowledged the longstanding issues with station hygiene and emphasized the shift toward outsourcing as a solution.
“Sanitation has been a recurring challenge for years. By outsourcing cleaning operations, we aim to deliver a visibly cleaner, more passenger-friendly experience,” he said.
The CEO added that this move follows earlier phases where Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Multan, and Khanewal stations were already brought under outsourced cleaning. In the next phase, the model will be extended to Raiwind and Okara railway stations as well.
By involving professional municipal service providers like LWMC, Pakistan Railways aims to ensure better waste management and station hygiene, especially at high-traffic stations like Lahore and Cantt.
