Islamabad, May 21, 2025: This Eid-ul-Azha, Pakistan Railways is stepping up to meet the holiday travel surge by introducing five Eid special trains to help travelers journey home with ease. With departures scheduled between June 2 and June 4, the initiative aims to reduce overcrowding, enhance passenger safety, and offer more convenient travel options across major cities.
As families across the country gear up for Eid-ul-Azha festivities, Pakistan Railways has responded to the seasonal travel demands by rolling out five Eid special trains on key intercity routes. This move is part of the government’s broader plan to provide safe and comfortable travel for all citizens.
Here’s a quick rundown of the schedule:
- June 2: The first train will depart from Karachi Cantt to Lahore at 1 p.m.
- June 3: Two special trains will run—Quetta to Peshawar Cantt at 10 a.m., and Lahore to Karachi Cantt at 5 p.m.
- That same evening, an additional service will leave Karachi City for Rawalpindi at 8 p.m.
- June 4: The final train will again go from Karachi Cantt to Lahore, also departing at 8 p.m.
To improve the travel experience, some of these trains will feature newly refurbished coaches from rail workshops, while others will utilize existing Eid-special train units. This mix of upgraded and standard coaches ensures availability without compromising safety or comfort.
In a related announcement, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi shared new plans to modernize railway stations nationwide. Key upgrades include the introduction of contemporary restaurants within station premises.
These eateries will be managed by private sector professionals to maintain high service standards and cleanliness.
“Citizens will be able to visit and enjoy these facilities at any time,” Abbasi said, emphasizing the importance of transforming stations into welcoming, people-friendly spaces.

Compared to previous Eid seasons, the 2025 plan shows significant logistical improvement. In 2023, limited services and older coaches caused bottlenecks and discomfort. This year, the addition of fresh coaches and better management reflects the government’s focus on efficient public transport during national holidays.
