Islamabad, July 19, 2025: Pakistan had a proud day in snooker as two of its players, one experienced and the other rising won big at the 2025 IBSF World Snooker Championship held in Bahrain. Muhammad Asif and Hasnain Akhtar made the country proud by grabbing titles in the Masters and Under-17 categories.
In the Masters final, Muhammad Asif defeated India’s Brijesh Damani 4-3 in a match full of twists. Damani had the upper hand early on, taking the first three frames. But Asif stayed focused and fought back, winning the sixth frame with ease and forcing a final, deciding frame.
In the last frame, Asif played brilliantly and completely outplayed Damani. He settled the score from his earlier 3-0 loss to the Indian in the group stage. The final frame scores were 98-37, 75-55, 0-80, 49-52, 41-64, 91-29, and 78-9.
This title is Asif’s sixth world championship win. At 36 years of age, he now has three individual world titles and two team titles under his belt.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s young rising star Hasnain Akhtar also made the country proud by beating Wales Riley Powell 4-0 to win the IBSF World U-17 Snooker Championship.
The 16 year old dominate throughout the event and proved his skills in the final, winning with frame scores of 86-7, 73-35, 50-32, and 98-4.
With this amazing win, Hasnain became the first Pakistani player ever to lift the U-17 IBSF World Snooker title, writing his name in the country’s snooker history.
