Islamabad, July 6, 2025: Pakistan on Friday encouraged Saudi Arabia investment in agricultural studies and storage facilities as part of a larger effort to ensure long-lasting food security, according to an official release.

This request was made during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki in Islamabad, after the launch of the third phase of the Saudi Food Security Support Program in Pakistan.

“Rana Tanveer Hussain shared Pakistan’s long-term vision for achieving sustainable food security through investment in agricultural research, innovation and modernized farming systems,” said the statement issued after the meeting.

“The Minister proposed deeper collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in key areas such as joint agricultural research, technological exchange and investment in food processing and storage infrastructure,” the statement mentioned.

Hussain also pointed out Pakistan’s dedication to better water management and the promotion of climate-smart farming to tackle the increasing risks caused by environmental issues.

He invited Saudi businesses to explore chances in agriculture-related projects, especially in areas known for high production, and urged for cooperation between academic institutions and research bodies in both nations.

The minister also recommended working together on desert farming, seed improvement, and water-saving methods, calling these key areas for joint progress.

Earlier, he handed out food packages to families under the Saudi Food Security Support Program and spoke with the beneficiaries.

Now in its third phase, the Saudi-sponsored project is supplying essential food items to thousands of families across Pakistan, offering much-needed help during climate-related difficulties.
